Positive: I stayed at the Vineyard Chateau in Carmel Valley for three nights with my family and, unfortunately, the experience did not match the price point or how the property is advertised. There were a few positives: the beds were comfortable, the pool itself was enjoyable, and communication from the hosts was responsive. However, cleanliness and upkeep were a significant issue. The kitchen sink had a foul odor and grime all around the edges, and the coffee machine was not clean throughout. We had to clean these ourselves in order to use them. The biggest disappointment was the outdoor area, which is heavily featured in the listing. The trampoline and treehouse had thick cobwebs and debris and clearly had not been maintained recently. We ended up cleaning them ourselves so our kids could use them. The outdoor bar area was also quite dirty and not something we felt comfortable using. I don’t typically write reviews, but I make an exception when it comes to cleanliness and health-related concerns. In this case, it felt important to share. The hosts had actually reached out to me beforehand asking for private feedback and how they could make things right. However, when I shared my experience, the response felt dismissive and focused on defending their standards rather than acknowledging the condition we encountered. At this price range, guests should not have to clean essential parts of the property themselves in order to use it. While the property has potential, the level of cleanliness, maintenance, and handling of feedback fell short of expectations.
