The Burnt River begins its journey at Miskwabi Lake in the Haliburton regions and meanders its way inexorably through the wilds of central Ontario, through the town of Kinmount past it's namesake Hamlet, until finally emptying into Cameron Lake in the Kawartha Lakes area. Originally used as a convenient way to ship timber to mills, the industrial past has given way to present-day cottage country. Just north of Fenelon Falls, on Kozy Kove Road, a cottage on the banks of the Burnt River awaits you.
The entry of the cottage takes you to the main living room, the gathering place for your group. The dining area and kitchen are close by here. A hallway divides this section from a sunroom overlooking the yard and river, with a handy deck off the side for sitting in shade or sun, with a BBQ for prepping those classic cottage dinners. Three bedrooms and a bathroom are also on this level. Downstairs you'll find the fourth bedroom, a second bathroom and a family room, complete with Foosball table for evening and rainy day entertainment.
Outside, there is a spacious lawn taking you to the short staircase which leads to the waterfront. The river is a mecca for swimming and paddling, and you can do both from the dock. Send out a flotilla with the canoe and pair of kayaks to explore the river!
Out and about, take a trip to Fenelon Falls or Bobcaygeon to embrace one of the classic cottage country towns. Cyclists and hikers will find this a great base for exploring the Victoria Rail Trail. We think mostly, you'll just enjoy the feeling of being away from it all for a week
