Moonlit Bay | House in Lutsen

4 Bedroom House in Lutsen
This very secluded and stately historic log cabin home, is nestled in a 3 acre heavily -wooded lot filled with mature Birch, Balsam and Spruce trees. The property is close to Lutsen ski hill, public lands, state hiking trails, cross country paths and shimmering snowmobile trails. The North Shore Winery is minutes away, as is Lutsen Lodge and great restaurants and bars along highway 61, in Grand Marais and on the Gunflint Trail.
Moonlit Bay sits on a sparkling bay of Lake Caribou, a deep blue reserve that is perfect for swimming, kayaking and canoeing, fishing, boating and waterskiing and has a large and private dock and fully lit path to the water, on 300 feet of lake shore. There is an abundance of wildlife, including fox, deer, red squirrels and the occasional Moose.
The single-level home is an updated century-old log structure, built by noted Swedish builder Ingeborg Strand, and updated by Isak Hansen of Lutsen. The main structure has vaulted ceilings, cedar logs, and a combination of pegged Oak, Maple and Douglas Fir floors. Dotted with a mix of vintage and newer area rugs and custom antique furnishings, the cabin smells of warm cedar and the living room is bathed daily in a warm amber glow from the aged wood ceiling and beams. An expansive gray-slate covered patio with Adirondacks and a fire pit, overlooks the water’s edge from the back of the home, and another fire ring and log seating is tucked into the woods along the lake.
There are three bedrooms and two baths in the main house, each located on their own wing of the home for privacy. The third bedroom/den is a fully appointed pull-out queen. There is also a charming pine paneled heated bunkhouse with twin beds, next to the main house. The home rents fully stocked with cooking implements, laundry supplies, bedding and towels included. Dishes and paper goods are also furnished. The well-water is ice-cold and excellent, so don’t worry about hauling bottled water along.
This home is everything you imagine when you think of a north-shore retreat!
