We gave the historic Garon Brothers Jewelers building a complete makeover to prepare for our October 2018 grand opening, and we are ready to host you and yours today. Hostel du Nord has preserved the historic detailing and features of the original building, reimagining the landmark architecture, ensuring that whatever your budget or adventure, you'll have a home base that feels like home.
Hostel du Nord is located in downtown Duluth, MN. It is only minutes away from Duluth's famous lift bridge, park point beach which is on Lake Superior and the canal park area. Myriad shops, restaurants, and night life is also just a stones throw away. Nord also happens to be a sister company to Duluth's premier music venue, The Red Herring Lounge, featuring live music and DJs 3-4 nights a week.
Unlike a traditional hostel, Hostel du Nord does not offer typical "dorm style" accommodation. There are no rooms full of bunks, and no private rooms. The "rooms" are the first and third floors, and the "bunks" are actually enclosed sleeping compartments with curtains for privacy. Each guest receives their own bunk (top/bottom, single/double) as well as a locker for storing personal affects. Ladders are provided for access to upper bunks. Each floor has multiple private bathrooms which are shared among guests, as well as shared lounge spaces for relaxing and socializing. The entire second floor is the lobby, open to all guests and visitors. There you will find: the reception desk, as well as a large, shared kitchenette, dining area, lounge, and access to Duluth's elaborate, indoor skywalk system.
