Mazinaw lake is one of those lakes that begs to be explored. From the deep clear waters to the cliffs to Petroglyphs Park, this tantalizing lake parallels highway 41 for about 12 kilometres and is bisected by Bon Echo Provincial Park. On what is referred to as Upper Mazinaw Lake, you'll come across Bon Echo Escape cottage. Easy to find and access, this cottage is perfect for a medium to large family looking for spacious accommodation on the water.
Bon Echo Escape is actually two cottages in one, joined by a central hall - a north cottage and a south cottage. In high season, this property rents as a combined unit only, while in the low season, guests may rent either separately.
The north cottage will appeal to those looking for a splash of entertainment with their cottage. A great room on the lower level includes a ping pong table and a Playstation (PS3)- perfect venues for your group's competitive juices. A Wii system is available in the bunk room. The main bedroom in this unit overlooks the lake and is located off the living/dining area. Both levels have walkouts - the upper to a deck and the lower to a patio and waterfront access. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a small table for meals on the go. Around the corner is a bedroom that sleeps 4 with it's own ensuite.
The Bon Echo area is flush with scenery and things to explore. The famous park, of course, offers hiking and nature to discover and explore. The nearby towns of Cloyne and Northbrook will have all you need in terms of basics as well as eateries and services. Highway 41 is dotted with hamlets where you may find local artisan businesses. Bring your bike, your camera, your easel - whatever helps you capture the magic of the Bon Echo area!

Cottage is off Hwy and very accessible year round. There is a significant stand of trees between the road and the cottage which limits hwy sound. You do occasionally notice trucks going up the hill
Waterfront
The water at the shore is clear and stony. Swimming is excellent from the dock using the ladder and the water is clear and generally weed free. The cottage's waterfront features a firm, mostly sand bottom, with clear and clean water to swim in! The water is approximately 5-6' deep at the end of the dock. Mazinaw Lake is also great for fishing, and you'll find you can even catch fish successfully off the dock!
Trivia Mazinaw Lake has a perimeter of 49Kms and averages 41m (135ft) in depth with a maximum depth of 145m (476ft), making it the second deepest lake in Southern Ontario besides the Great Lakes. (Source - Wikipedia)
